Since 2022, FORWARD has been implementing the Millet Mission (Shree Anna Campaign) in the tribal regions of Mayurbhanj, Odisha. The initiative promotes climate-resilient millet cultivation among small and marginal farmers to improve food security, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods. More than 600 farmers across 85 villages benefit from improved seed distribution, awareness programmes, and farmer training through field schools. The programme also supports farmers with cycle weeders, custom hiring centers, and linkages with Farmer Producer Organisations. By strengthening production systems and expanding market access, the campaign enhances farmers’ incomes, revives traditional food practices, and builds resilience to climate change challenges.

Alongside education, parents are provided with RAHAT (ration kits) and actively engaged through awareness sessions on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). This integrated model not only strengthens children’s school readiness but also improves family nutrition and awareness. By combining education, nutrition, and parental involvement, the programme builds a strong foundation for healthier, more resilient children.
