The Shree Anna Abhiyan aims to promote the cultivation, consumption, processing and marketing of millets as nutritious, climate-resilient and sustainable crops. The initiative focuses on improving farmers’ productivity and income, strengthening millet-based livelihoods, promoting healthy diets and food security, empowering women, SHGs and local communities, and encouraging traditional millet varieties and sustainable agricultural practices. It also seeks to create awareness about the nutritional and health benefits of millets and develop better value chains through processing, value addition, packaging and market linkages.
The Shree Anna Abhiyan is expected to increase millet cultivation and productivity, improve farmers’ knowledge and adoption of climate-resilient farming practices, and enhance household consumption of nutritious millet-based foods. It will strengthen the capacity of farmers, women, SHGs and community institutions in millet production, processing, value addition and marketing, while creating better livelihood and income opportunities. The initiative will also improve awareness of the nutritional and health benefits of millets and strengthen local millet value chains and market linkages.
The Shree Anna Abhiyan is expected to contribute to improved food and nutrition security, increased and sustainable incomes for millet-growing farmers, and greater adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices. It will strengthen the participation and economic empowerment of women, SHGs and local communities through millet-based enterprises, processing and value addition.
